Army of Two The 40th Day Full Game Follow Up

As mentioned before, I was unable to play the demo online at all. After purchasing the full game, I tried playing it with the same friend again online. After installing the 1.10 patch, we managed to get into the game no problem. There was a lot of lag though, even though both of us have great connections (fiber optic and ADSL2+ respectively). Still, these are EA servers and it comes as no surprise, but the lag is much worse than it was in the original Army of Two. It was bearable anyway. Note the "was".

Next game session a few days later. Had to install the 1.20 patch and was hopeful it would improve the online play. To my utter disbelief, the patch has caused the same problem as the demo and we are now unable to play online. I will try again soon, but it doesn't look good. The only reason we bought the game, was to play it co-op online. I will be sure to update again.

Army of Two The 40th Day PS3 Demo - FAIL!

I finally tried the Army of Two The 40th Day PS3 demo off PSN the other day and to my utter dissapointment, it did-not-work-at-all. Did not work! I couldn't believe it. I went online with a friend, fired up the demo and invited said friend for a game and after joining we try to play the demo. But nothing, stuck on the loading screen until the PS3 locked up. This happened everytime and we tried about 10 times. We tried changing hosts, still no go. Friend has a Phat PS3 and I have a Slim and it didn't work on either console.

The only success I had was playing a public online game, I joined and the intro movie played, but as soon as it finished, it told me to reconnect the controller for player 2. WTF indeed. My friend recieved the same screen when trying public co-op, except got it straight away instead of viewing the intro movie.

For someone who really enjoyed the first game, this was very frutrating and annoying. It was easy to point the blame though, my favorite (sarcasm) company published this game. Yeah, it's an EA game and I could only expect this to happen with an EA game. Going to the EA site and seeing the threads of complaints, I also noticed EA hadn't responded and have decided to do nothing. Excellent. Anyway, I ended up buying the game, but if it has the same problem, I will seriously reconsider buying an EA game ever again. FAIL.

Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Demo - WTF?

If anyone else downloaded the Marvel Vs Capcom 2 demo for PS3, you might (like me) not have been able to play it and been very annoyed with Capcom. In the description on PSN, there is no word that it only includes local multiplayer and nothing else at all. That's right, no single player. If you don't have two controllers, you cannot even get into the character select screen, let alone the fights, to see how good the port is. PSN multiplayer is disabled in the menu and so is any form of single player, but options are left intact. Very useful...NOT.

Was it really so hard to include one single player level? What is the point of this demo anyway? How many PS3 users will have two controllers and two people ready just to try a demo? And a port of an old Dreamcast game at that! Maybe I'm being unfair here, or maybe I'm not. Capcom, you fail, plain and simple. The Marvel Vs Capcom 2 demo is the stingiest and worst demo I have ever downloaded and I've downloaded teaser trailers with no ingame footage and been less frustrated. At least they have a purpose, this demo I can't get past the menu screen and it just makes me angry. Anything would have been better than this, even just being able to do training mode or something.
